Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge - Porsche Centre North Toronto 

Chapter 1 - Introduction

A first look at at the car Porsche Centre North Toronto will be restoring to showroom condition over the next 12 months. The Car is a 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera (993) - the last air-cooled 911. Throughout the process we plan to showcase the classic know-how and the restoration ability of Porsche Centre North Toronto. We will be communicating the progress and results to the public through photos, videos, and updates. Follow along with us on this unique journey.

Chapter 2 - Track Day

On October 10, 2018 we took our Classic Restoration Challenge car to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario. In this video we see our 911 Carrera turn some laps around the track. Chapter 3 - Engine Drop

In this segment Shawn Skilich, Porsche technician, drops the engine out of the car. We will now begin working on the engine and body separately. Stay tuned for updates.

Chapter 4 - Body Shop Transport

In this segment we transport the body (without engine) to our Porsche Certified Body Shop, Excellence Auto Collision where owner/enthusiast, Peter Woo and his team take a deep dive into what the next steps are. We will now begin working on the engine and body simultaneously. Stay tuned for updates.

Chapter 5 - Engine Rebuild

In this segment Shawn Skilich, Porsche Bronze Certified Technician, shows the dissembled engine and describes how and why he plans to rebuild it. Shawn gives an overview of what he is looking for, how he plans to address issues, and what the result will be after the engine rebuild is complete. While this is going on, the body is being prepared for paint at the bodyshop - we plan to share that in the next chapter. We are making great progress on this project and are getting closer to completion. Stay tuned for updates.

Chapter 6 - Paint Preparation

In this segment Mark Millson, Director of Operations at Excellence Auto Collision (Porsche Certified Body Shop), takes us through the steps in preparing the car to get painted. The staff carefully take the proper steps to ensure perfection which includes stripping the paint down to the substrate. While this is happening, the Shawn (technician at Porsche Centre North Toronto) is working on reassembling the engine. We are getting to the final stretch and can't wait to share the final product with you. Stay tuned for updates.

Chapter 7 - Paint Application

An always exciting sight to see - paint application. Here we show our bodyshop, Excellence Auto Collision, apply the paint and top coat to this car they have been preparing for the past few months. We used a state-of-the-art paint to give it that incredible factory finish. Now we will transport the car back to Porsche Centre North Toronto where the body of the car will be on display in our showroom for the next few weeks starting on May 21, 2019.
